This poem reminds me of a typical summer in which kids are playing with no concern for their own health. The way the poem reminds me of this is when it says “When the purpose of knees was to be skinned…” The kids are also doing activities such as climbing trees and doing exactly the opposite of what their parents tell them. They are also eating watermelons all summer. This poem also reminds me of when I had just moved into a new house with my dad. There was a large magnolia tree in my yard and for the first few years all that my friends and I did was climb the tree. The line in the poem that reminds me most of this occasion is when the poem said “While straddling thick branches…”

A possible reason that people disapprove the use of fluoride in their drinking water is that they believe that the government is doing something that will affect the population without the population’s consent. Fluoride also has some health effects.
My position on adding fluoride to drinking water is that fluoride would be a huge change for everyone but it would be a good change. I take this position because like most people I want my teeth to be clean and white.
Only very simple advances in technology had to be made to combine the fluoride and the abrasive. This combination was used in the earliest of toothpastes. A type of of fluoride that was made for toothpaste is sodium fluoride.
My worst concern about fluoride health effects is that too much fluoride can weaken bones and increase the fracture rate of someones bones. Another concern of mine is that excessive exposure to fluoride is well known to cause a bone disease called skeletal fluorosis. Also excessive ingestion of fluoride during the early childhood years can damage the tooth-forming cells, leading to a defect in the enamel.
